Lifestriders Theraputic Riding Center is in need of at least 1-2 more horses to ensure lessons can operate efficiently and safely for our riders. We are asking friends of the center to please keep ears and eyes open for any horses that may be good candidates to join the Lifestriders family. For a horse to be considered a 'good candidate' for providing therapy lessons, the following criteria must ideally met. (see below) Please spread the word that Lifestriders is in need of more 'horse members' in our family! Therapy Horse Criteria: 1. Horses must be of sound body and mind. 2. Ages (10-18 years) 3. Less than 15 HH 4. Be well trained and able to walk, trot and canter (ridden within last year) and longe 5. No vices (cribbing, mouthy, bucking, kicking, biting or spooking etc.) 6. No supplementation required for health reasons (medications etc.) 7. Natural hoof preferred. We will attempt to transition to natural hoof if shoed 8. Belong to local owners that are willing to take the horse back at the en of 90 trial period if the horse does not meet training criteria. Lifestriders staff will contact owner throughout the 90 trial/training period process to update owner about horse's transition and how they are doing in the program. Ideally, we are looking for owners who would like to lease their horses to LifeStriders free of charge with the understanding that LifeStriders assumes all of the care, feeding and vetting. 9. Horses must be boarded locally so that LS staff can perform an initial evaluation. 10. Temperment- Therapy horses need to be bombproof. 11. Geldings preferred. In our attempts to ensure safe riding experiences for our clients, we ask that you do not contact us if the horse has a history of bucking, kicking, biting or spooking.
